Abstract: Interpreted in details here in the essay are the main contents of the Total Standard GS EP PLR 205. It is regarded via the analysis that compared to API Spec 5L，the requirements for the chemical composition as specified under GS EP PLR 205 are more stringent，and in addition，the requirements for segregation are described in this standard；also specified under the Total standard are the requirements for the mechanical properties such as longitudinal and transverse tensile strength，impact resistance，hardness，HIC and SSC resistances and strain aging etc. Moreover in GS EP PLR 205 the requirements for dimensional tolerances，particularly for those concerning pipe-end internal diameter and internal roundness are more stringent；and detailed specifications in associated with the qualification of the NDT personnel，requirements for the calibration sample，and the NDT method are described.
