Abstract:
Though it is described under NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 that the hardness value of the austenitic stainless steel must be ≤22 HRC,but due to the low hardness value of solid-solution austenitic material, the actual HRC test fails to get the required HRC value. By consulting the standard, and relevant methods for testing the standard hardness test block and sample methods,it is identified that the HRC values as resulted from different methods and corresponding to 22 HRC are approximately 100 HRBW,which leads to such a conclusion that“≤100 HRBW”can be used as an alternative to the above mentioned“≤22 HRC”as required under NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 for the hardness value of the austenitic stainless steel.
