Development of MPM Technology and Construction of Large-sized MPMs （Part I）

Briefed in the paper are the invention and development of the MPM as well as the situations concerning construction of such kind of pipe mill throughout the world. Also detailed here are the worldwide currently-operated three large-sized MPMs, i.e., the Φ340mm（14in） MPM of Dalmine, Italy, the Φ426mm（16in） MPM of Volzhsky Pipe Plant, Russia and the Φ426mm（16in） MPM of Sumitomo Metals’ Wakayama Pipe Plant, Japan, covering such aspects as equipment configuration, manufacturing process flow, operational tooling, operation situation, product mix and existing technical problems.
