Investigation of Factors Influencing Results of Off-line Tensile Test on 3PE Anti-corrosion Layer on Steel Tube

  • According to GB/T 1040.2-2006 and ASTM D638-2013 which are commonly followed in off-line corrosion test for steel tube,the preparation of 3PE anti-corrosion layer samples and the status adjustments are introduced in the paper.Tensile strengths of 3 types of 3PE anti-corrosion layers are compared,and the factors that affect the results of the tensile tests are analyzed.It is concluded that comparing to IB and IBA samples defined in GB/T 1040.2-2006,Ⅳtype sample defined in ASTM D638-2014 has smaller gauge length,which assures the homogeneity of the thickness of an anti-corrosion layer.Ⅳtype sample also has concentrated shouder stress,so it is recommened for the test.
